Environment
There are a few things you should be aware of about the enviroment.
- Their cage should not be placed in a draft.
- Their cage should not be placed in direct sunlight (At least not full sunlight all day)
- The temperature in the room they are kept in should be 18-22ºC
- The air should be fresh rather than heavy. Airing out once in a while should do the trick.

If they are exposed to a constant draft they might get pneumonia. If they start sneezing or have film in their noses it might be cause by a draft. If they are exposed to a lot of sunlight they might overheat. They can't sweat like we do and they don't drink to cool down like other animals either.

They do enjoy laying in the sun from time to time, but make sure the cage is in a shadow. If they are kept under 15ºC in a longer period of time they might get sick too thou. It is a good idea to air out the room to keep the air fresh - hay and bedding often make the air a bit dusty too, so it's good for both you and the degus.
